wont happen
Maybe not right away of course. But do you really not think that in the next 20 maybe even 40 years we will not have roads similar to these?
Considering the fact that more than likely in our life time oil resources will have mostly depleted.
I believe this concept will eventually happen. Clean, recycled energy is in our future.

nah we'll have oil for a long time. Even as our existing stockpiles and access to oil dwindles, new technologies are invented that allow us to gain access to oil reserves we previously could not.

Oil is no longer mainstream. Qatar's virtually infinite supply of natural gas is the real deal, which makes such country completely immune to the fact that they even have wanted terrorists and their financiers within their government - those who were truly behind the WTC 'failed' attack in 1993, and then went back to Qatar, then back to the US to consummate 9/11...

Bush and Blair were complete morons to wage useless and unprepared wars for oil...

It's almost as if you didn't watch any of the videos or read anything we all wrote.
I've read, but despite all the downsides, this can still be something productive, IF it's ever done right.

It's a beautiful idea, no doubt, and it's definitely something I can envision, but in the next 40ish years? Possibly not.

You also have to consider the fact that the asphalt needs removed. People have to be paid to dig it up, and that ranges up to about $5 a square foot. Now, expand that cost across the country.
Not only that, you have to buy each panel, and I'm sure those arn't cheap either.

It would be an extremely slow, agonizing process, and I'm sure by time it's done we would have already found something better.

Btw, the necro is real.
